3.0.17 won't load

I’m getting a weird glitch now when trying to load 3.0.17 on my desktop, where the screen comes up with a bunch of gobbledygook (and nothing is clickable)… It used to work fine. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that doesn’t help. Check it out…

I’m using Win XP Home (SP2), AMD Athlon XP3200, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500[/img]

There’s probably nothing wrong with VASSAL, but rather your video card/driver has crapped out on you or Java has just been updated and it’s using hardware acceleration (which has crapped out on you).

First thing to check: does this happen with any other programs? Have you recently updated Java (it does this automatically)? Does this happen with the most recent release of VASSAL (3.1-beta6)?

No.

I think so. If so, what to do?

No, it doesn’t. But I’m getting a different weird glitch when using the new beta 6, which I need to report separately, which is why I wanted to use 3.0.17.

Thus spake “Grudunza”:

Does this happen with 3.1.0-beta6?

Thus spake “Grudunza”:

Could you check what version of Java you’re using? (On Windows, you
should be able to do this via the Control Panel.)

At this point, the solution to any problem with 3.0.17 is to use the current
3.1.0 beta—so the problem to solve is the one with 3.1.0-beta6, not the
one you’re having with 3.0.17.
