If I want to back up an earlier vassal engine and then install the updated vassal, how would I protect the earlier one?
If you use Windows, when running the VASSAL installer you choose a “Custom” install instead of a “Standard” install. This will detect earlier versions and give you the chance to retain them instead of auto-removing them.
On MacOS, simply rename the older app so you can distinguish it from the newest one.
