Call to open an Excel file

Hi all,

I searched but didn’t see an answer to this but it seems simple enough - is it possible to have a button open an Excel file that is stored within the module for use with tracking lots of game information?

I understand that there is the Spreadsheet feature but to be honest, it’s a bit clunky and without a nice looking format. What I have is log sheets similar to B-18 QOTS (but larger). And yes, I have seen the modules that have a scan of the actual log file with pieces that can be flipped to show different values but still not as simple as just having an Excel file.

And yes yes, I could just zip up the Excel sheet with the module and instruct the player to open it outside of the module but an elegant solution would be to have a button in the menu bar that made this call - is this possible?

Thanks!

Short answer: No.

Medium answer: It would take a lot of work, particularly if you care about
formatting. Not to mention having any actual calculations.

Well Excel itself would handle any formulas. I’d just like to be able to create a symbolic link to open an Excel file but it could be applicable to say a PDF that might have some rules info (for example) related to the game. Seems that it would be easy enough, no?

I have

I have a similar question. But I don’t wat an external file.
it’s just that I have a 5p game (Terraforming Mars) with 28 different attributes, tags, discount, that I defined individually as Global Properties.
It makes the whole stuff heavy, and probably a little long to play now.
Instead of 140 individual At Start Stack with a Text and some Actions on the Global Property, what would you suggest ?
