Connection with a hotspot

Hello,

I’m using Vassal in France.
A friend of mine can’t playing with us, by serveur or by peer-to-peer.
Why ? Because she connects on net by a wi-fi public hotspot wich can’t be configured and don’t allow the 5500 port.

How to find a way to play with my friend ?

Set up a server which routes traffic from your friend over a port
she can use to the VASSAL server.

I’m don’t understand what to do and how to do it.

Set up a server which routes traffic from your friend over a port

You mean install a soft on her PC to do that ? Which one ?

No, I mean set up a server somewhere which accepts connections on
some port which your friend can get out on, and redirects them to
the VASSAL server.

Or, use a VPN. Using a VPN is probably simpler.

Well … I don’t have «somewhere» to do it. And it must also do the same in the other way (from vassal serveur to her PC).

A VPN ? Well, I know the concept but i’ve got nothing to do it.

Connections are bidirectional. If you can send data out, you can send
data back on the same connection.

The general solution to your problem is to have something outside the
wifi network which acts as a proxy for you.
