Constantly erasing and redrawing the screen

I’ve noticed on some module (particularly large ones), VASSAL will constantly erase and redraw the screen and it never seems to ‘settle down’ and give a stable display, while other modules are ok. This happen particularly when ‘zoomed out’ so that most of the map is visible.

An example that is easy to reproduce is the Battle for Normandy module – if you start a new game and zoom out to the 10% zoom level it will just keep blanking and redrawing the screen. Is there something in particular in the module that causes this (something that module designers should avoid?)

CPU: Core2Duo E8400 4GB memory
OS: ubuntu linux 10.04/ kernel 2.6.32
Java: OpenJDK IcedTea6.1.8.1

You’re trying to run the module with too little heap. This won’t happen if
you increase the maximum heap size for the module.
