Editing or expanding existing modules

Is is possible, for a newb (like me), to expand on an exisiting module?

I’m assuming I just “open” up the module and “add” the extra stuff? I know there are tutorials on the WIKI page, but I was just wondering if it’s as easy as it sounds?

Since these are open modules is it ok to attempt this? I don’t want to step on any toes!

It’s probably a good way to learn how to make modules. It’s probably not as
simple as just “adding” extra stuff. A lot of functionality hinges on
key-strokes which really need to be known before you start adding things
unless what you add doesn’t involve key strokes.

I would contact the original author of the module, anyway. Not because
you’d be stepping on toes, but because you will probably need to ask
questions regarding the module. In order to post changes to the website, I
would definitely get permission from the original author, however.

Yea, that’s what I thought.

Both people’s email contact are bogus (Heroclix mod and MicroClix mod’s).

Oh well. I guess I can always try and see what I can do.

That is a problem. Do we have a policy on abandoned modules? I know it’s a
wiki format which means it’s a free-for-all, but maybe someone else can
address this.

Thus spake Michael Kiefte:

If the module doesn’t have a maintainer, then I have no problem with someone
new becoming the module maintainer.
