Help creating card images for AMBUSH module

Hi,

I have never done anything with module design. For the Module Ambush I am trying to add the German soldier cards. There are approx. 100-150 2x3" cards. I was scanning them in 15-20 to a page. I am experimenting with using MS Paint to cut out each card and create a separate gif file. The files individual files are 70k or so, too big if I am going to have over 100.
I know MS paint isn’t the best tool.
So advice questions:

  1. What tool should I use to separate the images from the scanned page?
  2. What is the best format to save them in?
  3. What size per card should I be shooting for.

Thanks,
Rick

Why is 70KB too big? That’s less than 7MB for 100 cards.

I recommend The GIMP.

If you’re cleaning up the scans, save them as PNGs. If not, save them
as JPEGs. Keep your original scans in case you need to redo something.

You might want to download the Module Designers Guide from the Documentation section of this site. There’s a section on working with graphics that answers many of your questions.
