Issues with Through the Ages v. 2.46 Module

Greetings,

I’ve been trying to play TtA using the latest module and Vassal and have encountered several problems. I’m on a Mac running OS 10.4.11.

Vassal 3.1 and the TtA module is unplayable, as the graphics do not load properly and a massive memory leak occurs.

Vassal 3.0 and TtA module is playable, although there is still a memory leak that utilizes over 400MB of my RAM and slows everything down (I have 1 gig of RAM).

TtA 2.46 appears to have an error when playing future events: instead of revealing one current event it reveals two. I can send you a log file on request. This is the show stopper.

Any ideas?

I’ve seen memory to be an issue with this module. I recently tried the
setting for memory mapped graphics and it works fine now, though loading the
graphics takes more time. I’m on xp though so YMMV with a mac.

With events, are you right clicking the event and playing it to the future
events? Is so, then the problem might be that when the module auto draws
military cards for you it places them in a stack in your player hand. If you
don’t unstack these, right clicking may be activating the entire stack and
send 2 or more events to the future events. You need to drag them out and
separate them I’ve found.

In the event that you’re already doing this and it’s not the problem, simply
clicking the undo button once would return the second event back to the
current events pile, but I’ve not seen this happen yet in the two games I’ve
played with the 2.46 version and vassal 3.1 beta and final.

If this is the case then the auto draw of the cards should be fixed. There is no reason to have the 2 cards stack and have the player manually have to adjust their player hand and unstack them. It can easily be accomplished with a 2nd location loop on the trigger

Thus spake “Belisarius”:

What are you seeing, here exactly? How are the graphics failing to load?

Undo returns my event card to my hand, it does notjust undo the second current event revealed.

I am only sending one card to the future event pile, there are no other cards stacked with it. It happens to be a territory. I had in a previous turn sent an Event card to the future event pile without problems.

As for Vassal 3.1 and TtA 2.46, the card graphics load but not the background graphics of the board, or the background of the player board, and the memory leak gets worse to the point of being unplayable.

Thanks

What do you see instead of the mapboard?
