Mask attribute added automatically problem

Using VASSAL 3.1.18 with Java 1.7.0_04

I have a (slightly modified) AirPower module (practically the same as v 0.98 on this site) which I am using to PBeM.

It was working fine using with my previous opponent but when I create a .vlog file and email it to my new opponent (and when he emails his move back to me) it is arriving with ‘Masks’ added to all the counters on the board, even though neither of us has selected them.

Has anyone observed this behaviour before? I know he is using the same VASSAL version and module as me, possibly with a different issue of Java though… could this be the problem?
Or is there a ‘Mask all counters’ setting that I don’t know about which has accidentally been set somewhere?

Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. I’m on Windows XP, he’s on Windows 7

The module is called The Speed of Heat in the Modules section (the game system is Air Power)

Does the problem happen with 3.1.20? With 3.2.5?

It was working fine using with my previous opponent but when I create a
.vlog file and email it to my new opponent (and when he emails his move
back to me) it is arriving with ‘Masks’ added to all the counters on the
board, even though neither of us has selected them.

Is this a module for which pieces are masked for players who are not
their owners?

I know he is using the same
VASSAL version and module as me, possibly with a different issue of Java
though… could this be the problem?

It’s unlikely.
