I just played with my gaming buddy who had installed Vassal on a brand new computer and ran into an issue that stumped us for a bit…

Namely, the choices to “look for a game” online was not showing up…

It turns out that this was a simple fix, Preferences-General - check “Display Wizard Questions on Startup.”

While this is not a bug (per-se), IMHO this preference should be checked by default for a new install to prevent confusion - especially for new users of Vassal…

The wizard is on by default. Are you sure this was a new install? That your friend reported accurately?

I talked to him, it’s a little complicated…

He moved from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and had his file structure copied over…

So it was not actually a “clean” install…

That would explain it. He would still have had his preferences in his user directory. Thanks for following up.
