NSIS installer for Windows

Thus spake Joel Uckelman:

I’ve made that change here:

nomic.net/~uckelman/tmp/vass … indows.exe

Perfect. I wouldn’t even worry if “custom” installed Linux; Only experienced users will have the courage to click that button, so I’m happy!

And if a user comes back to us complaining that the custom install wrecked Vassal, we can always say “well, that’s for experienced users only”. To which he will reply “but an older module would not run with new Vassal”. Then we say “please talk to the module creator and get him to fix his module”. Problem solved, we’ve just cut our user-support worries by over 50%! :smiling_imp:

Thus spake “bsmith”:

Hey, that’s a good idea. I’ll have to add a “Wouldn’t you rather use Linux?”
checkbox.

If the installer makes a mess, I’m going to be pissed off—getting this
to work was quite a slog. Anyway, I’ve done the install-uninstall dance
so many times in the past week that I’m convinced it’s solid.

Using you installation for Windows i have a problem trying to launch my current working module (done in 3.0.17.)

I’m currently using the Vassal Version given by Michael for French translation purpose :

  • VASSAL-3.1.0-svn3156-generic

and i have used too your installation package :

  • VASSAL-3.1.0-svn3153

Both inform me that an error occur … I join you here the error log file.

My module starts but impossible to see the default map loaded …

Hi Gregory,

The log file never made it. You can send it to me privately, and I
can take a look.
