Hi all.

The permission to edit some documentation posts I’ve previously made have disappeared. For example

- [Script to make common operations on piece images](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/script-to-make-common-operations-on-piece-images/84787)
- [Tools for module developers](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/tools-for-module-developers/84785/1)
- [Video tutorials on module development](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/video-tutorials-on-module-development/84786)
- [How to Run VASSAL on Android (X11)](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/how-to-run-vassal-on-android-x11/84398)
- [How To Run VASSAL on SteamDeck](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/how-to-run-vassal-on-steamdeck/79338)

while others I _can_ edit, e.g.,

- [How to convert to a module from other tools to VASSAL](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/how-to-convert-to-a-module-from-other-tools-to-vassal/84940)
- [Set VASSAL Look’n’Feel](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/set-vassal-looknfeel/84865)

Am I overlooking something? Thanks.

Yours,
_Christian_

I don’t see how they differ in a minute or so of looking.

Neither do I - hence the confusion. Do you think you can do something about it? Thanks.

The ones that you can edit are more recent that the ones that you cannot.

I find that ability to edit expires after a certain time on forum posts, which may be reasonable in general. Presumably the same rule is being applied to documentation, which is not so great.

If your analysis is correct, then than that would mean posts are no longer editable after 1 month, roughly. Whether that’s reasonable, in general, I find debatable - at least users should be able to delete posts if they want to - no questions asked.

Perhaps @slimy can confirm, or not, if the hypothesis is correct.

And, then I agree, as far as posts in the _Documentaiton_ category should be editable perpetuity.

@uckelman is there any way you can change the edit timeout or curfew? At least for the _Documentation_ category? That is, if that is indeed the problem.

Just a thought: I’ve been able to edit [Documentation Index](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/documentation-index/78944) even though it is a relatively old post. So perhaps the edit curfew depends on the user-level of the creator of the post?

BTW, @marktb1961, why did you remove [How to convert to a module from other tools to VASSAL](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/how-to-convert-to-a-module-from-other-tools-to-vassal/84940) from [Documentation Index](https://forum.vassalengine.org/t/documentation-index/78944), or was it just an oversight?

Thanks again.

An oversight for sure, unless it is possible to overwrite someone else’s change due to concurrent editting? I have been adding not removing.

OK, that’s what I thought - probably concurrent edits. I added it back in 🙂

@uckelman Can you change the curfew on edits in the _Documentation_ category? Thanks.

None of those posts had been set as wiki posts. I’ve adjusted that now.

Is that something I should have done myself? For future reference.

This was news to me too, or I had forgotten. Turns out there is a hidden option at the foot of the post. Maybe it is more obvious when creating a post in the first place.

Is there some reason why I can’t make this post a wiki?

Ah, now I see it.

For future reference:

- Click the three dots button **…** and then the wrench icon ,🔧 and select “Add Wiki”.

Better remember that one 🙂

Thanks again
