# Possible to rotate only a layer?

Hi!

I’m try to figure out a double rotating system.
My questions are:

1. Is it possible to rotate 2 layers of one model independently?
For example the hull and the turret of a Tank

2. If its possible to rotate only one layer and let the rest stay in line?
For example: A Unit turns into Target direction or direction to walk, but the unit-symbol is still in the first position.

3. Can i give different layers for every direction a unit rotates? (e.g. 45° steps)

1. Yes. For each layer you would add an associated rotate trait that uses different key commands from any other rotate trait

2. Again, yes per above

Yes. In fact that example is part of the model building tutorial.

Unfortunately, that is also off-line at the moment, but hopefully not
too much longer.

sounds fine. I will try to success. also without the model building tutorial

yeah it works!
at least a part.

i have now a layer hull with a rotate button and a layer with the turret and also a rotate button.
the stupid thing is
the rotate button from the turret rotates the hole unit, because its the last thing in my list.

is it possible to cut these two rotate buttons
or show a layer above an other, while its one of the first parts in the list?

hope you understand my problem?

Yes, you can do this, but you wouldn’t do it my using rotation trait.

Instead, you would have a group of layers that you would cycle
through, each showing the rotation. In other words, you would end up
doing the rotation manually by creating different images and just
cycling through them.
