Problem playing Memoir'44

Hi Guys,

Whenever I load the Memoir’44 Mod and want to play a scenario, it doesn’t work.

First it tells me all the extensions are loaded, then it says they aren’t. Example:

  • Extension MediterraneanTheater v2.4 loaded
  • This game was saved with extension ‘MediterraneanTheater.mdx’ loaded. You do not have this extension loaded. Place the file into the ‘C:\Users\Tim\Desktop\Memoir 44\Memoir44v8_ext’ folder to load it

It this is for all the extensions available for Memoir’44. They are all placed in the correct folders. Does anybody know what to do?

Thanks in advance!

Could you post a listing of the “Memoir 44” and “Memoir44v8”
directories?

It seems something may be a little bit off.

One thing that strikes me is that it looks like the saved game is
looking for an extension ending in “.mdx” and the current set of
extensions end in “.vmdx” instead. So that mismatch may be part of
the problem.

Could you see if the problem goes away if you rename
“MediterraneanTheater.vmdx” to “MediterraneanTheater.mdx” ?

All extensions should be placed in one specific folder, not folders.

No reason to be messing with folder(s) at all. The Module manager takes care
of this now for modules, extensions (loading, activating, deactivating),
saved games and log files

All extensions should be placed in one specific folder, not folder__s__.

Read this topic online here:

I’ve tried renaming them .mdx instead of .vmdx but it didn’t help.
The folderS was a typo, they are all in one folder.

Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8.mod
Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext

Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext/AirPack.vmdx
Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext/Breakthrough.vmdx
Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext/Breakthrough-exp.vmdx
Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext/Brummbar.vmdx
Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext/CampaignbookVol1.vmdx
Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext/EasternFront.vmdx
Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext/MediterraneanTheater.vmdx
Desktop/Memoir 44/Memoir44v8_ext/Overlord.vmdx

Thanks for trying to help

And nothing appears when you choose a scenario? Is there any further message? Dialog? Error?

The map appears and all the armies and towns etc. are placed correctly, but it’s like it’s in editing mode. I can reposition them and move them around as if I were creating a map.
I don’t receive any playing cards and I can’t start playing the map.

 Sounds like it’s working exactly as it should. The Memoir 44 module is not a fully automated computer game. It’s a virtual version of the tabletop board game. You are supposed to know how to play the game, what pieces to move when to where, to take cards yourself, to roll the dice, etc.

The computer game of Memoir 44 is currently under development by Days of Wonder and only available to a few in a closed beta.

But how can I start moving pieces around if I don’t have any action cards?
Should I just randomly say ‘general advance’ or ‘their finest hour’ to my opponent and then move them around? Doesn’t sound like the right way to play it

If you chose a scenario, there will be a deck of cards on the right side of the board. You open your hand window (Allies or Axis) and place the cards you drag from that deck in there. Or you can place them anywhere in the board window if you like. If there is no deck of cards then you probably did New Game instead of choosing a pre-setup scenario.

 Thanks for the help
