Problems Connecting and Staying Connected

Hello I have been using Vassal for a number of years and am currently on version 3.2.8. (It is a great system and I really appreciate the efforts put in by you the developers).

However since 3.2.8 I have been having great difficulty staying connected to the server and once the connection is lost it takes quite a long time to re-establish and re-login. There are always “ghost” names left behind once I am disconnected. Sometimes numerous ones.

The disconnections only really appear to occur if I am inactive for more than 2-3 minutes in vassal. Then I am dropped BUT it is not apparent that I have been dropped until I move a piece and my opponent cannot see the move…I then check the room which shows me still being there…but in reality it is a “ghost” or legacy. I then have to reconnect to the server and rejoin the room (which takes about 2-3 mins again).

Is this a known issue? Is there a work around or something I could check at my end to avoid any software conflicts? What other information can I provide?

Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I have been using vassal to play a game that has lasted the last year or so…and I dont want to lose it.

Many thanks

Dom

The problem has nothing to do with the version of VASSAL you’re using.
We’re having some sort of connectivity problem with our host, which
we’re trying to resolve. We don’t know how long it will take, as we
don’t know what the cause of problem is yet.

Thank you. I shall await developments and good luck.

FYI I presume it is a related issue you already know about but just in case…the paypal donate is not working at the moment.

Our site should be accessible at normal speeds again. We’re normally
pretty close to saturating our network connection, but it turns out that
one of the other VMs on the same host was being inadvertantly mailbombed
by a runaway script, which is what pushed us from being slow to being
unusable.

Is this still the case? It looks functional to me right now.
