My internet currently connects through a proxy server, is there any way I can get Vassal to do that as well, like I have done for Firefox and Internet Explorer?

There’s already an enhancement request for this:

Until this is implemented, you mgiht be able to set your proxy this
way if you’re on Windows:

java.com/en/download/help/proxy_setup.xml

If you’re running VASSAL from a batch file or shell script, you might
be able to modify these to specify the http.proxyHost and http.proxyPort
properties, as indicated here:
