RPG Tactical - Unable to Use

I must be missing something pathetically obvious. I start up the D&D module in Vassal, I go to “Start a new game offline”, I choose to be the Dungeon Master, I choose a map. So then I have a map which covers my whole screen except for the toolbar above. On the toolbar is a button containing all the units, so I click on that and my map is replaced by a list of units. I select a unit…and then I have no idea how to get it onto the map, because the map and the Big Box of Virtual Minis never exist at the same time.

Try dragging the divider between the map and piece palette.

Hi.

You can also uncheck the “Use combined application window (requires restart)” checkbox.

This way all elements are displayed on separate windows. It is most useful if either you have a separate audio channel to chat with the other players, as the chatter window might be hidden by the map, or if you have a large screen.

Had it been for me, I’d have set up the game map to be on a different window, accessed via button, but my “product definition” fellow (my DM at the time) threatened my character of an horrible death, so I gave in ;).

What divider?

What divider?

If you can’t see the map when the piece palette is open, then it’s
because the divider between the two is at the bottom of the window.
Try dragging it upwards.

J.

It’s probably at the bottom of the window and may be against the bottom of
the frame. It may not be completely obvious. Sometimes that happens but I
don’t think anyone really knows why.
