Sourceforge

Are you guys still using SF to track bugs and enhancements? If so I might Sticky some links here in the forum, that way people can check the list before making posts, saves us having to cover the same ground.

I’ll also make an effort to keep SF more up-to-date.

Thus spake “bsmith”:

Yes, we are. I’ve always had the sense that it’s difficult to get people to
report bugs or RFEs there (maybe because of the interface?—something like
Bugzilla is a lot better, in my opinion).

Yeah, it’s probably better that users not submit bugs to SF; I’m happy to let them tell us informally and leave the rest to us.
As an aid I’m thinking of manually appending the bug or RFE numbers to thread topics so we can more easily tie the discussions to each one. Does this sound worthwhile?

Thus spake “bsmith”:

Yes, that would be helpful.

It would also be good if RFEs and bug reports would make it to SF, because
neither email nor the forum are very good for tracking them. I don’t know
what to do about that. I wish that SF’s bug reporting interface didn’t suck
so much, so that users would use it. The best thing about users reporting
bugs is that it’s a distributed effort—if the burden of entering this
stuff into the tracker falls on only a few people, then it’s not going to
happen.
