Three things I want to code.

Yeah I had a play around too, it’s tricky finding a usable balance.

When you use the rectangular hot-zone, the corners are a long way to go with the mouse to start the scrolling. I had a go at vectoring from the middle point of the window and making scrolling kick in at a defined radius (had to google trigonometry for a refresher course!). That didn’t work either, gets frustrating when you’re trying to drop a piece somewhere and the thing is scrolling everywhere.

And then there’s the performance problem, it works REALLY well at 100% zoom but clunky at any other zoom level. As much as it pains me to say it, the right-click system may end up being the best way to navigate.

The 3.1.9 tag is wrong. It appears to have been created from the trunk,
rather than from the 3.1 branch like it should have been. (I’ll see
about getting that fixed this evening.)

Anyway, I recommend against working from tags. Base your branch on the 3.1
branch until we get the trunk fixed.
