# Various videos on using Vassal

This page presents a number of videos on using Vassal in various settings.

These videos are _not_ by the Vassal team, even though some of the video authors are quite well-known in the Vassal community or are frequent contributors to Vassal in various ways.

**Note** Please any video you fell is relevant to this post. Please try to categorise the video according to the headings.

## Installation

- [How to play board games with Vassal and Discord](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3ocGwbhFl8) by [Christopher Webber](https://www.youtube.com/@christopherwebber3804). The video shows the old module library and focuses in the second half on Discord.
- [How to install Vassal 2022 edition with CCE module walkthrough](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs20W89BS8Q) by [Charles Cabell](https://www.youtube.com/@SenecaSCHistoryGamers).
- [How to Play Wargames on Vassal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUKp8YXK0U8) by [Ardwulf’s Lair](https://www.youtube.com/@ardwulfslair). The video is slightly out of date as it shows an older download page and module manager interface. Ignore the first part on downloading Java for your platform as Vassal now comes shipped with Java - at least for Windows and MacOS.
- [Tutorial Video: How to Set Up and Use Vassal!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RunYQA4Bp5M) by [Navis Nobelite](https://www.youtube.com/@NavisNobelite). Yet another older video. Shows download from `sourceforge.com` and an older module manager interface.
- [How to install and use vassal Forged in Fire Worthington Games](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuXsO2GLQgA) by [Charles Cabell](https://www.youtube.com/@SenecaSCHistoryGamers). From 2011, and shows a really old download page and module manager.

## Playing

- [Learn VASSAL w/ Joel Toppen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmrBu8oVrR8). A relatively recent video.
- [[I]ntro to vassal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1cz0p5dde0) by [Charles Cabell](https://www.youtube.com/@SenecaSCHistoryGamers). From 2013! Somewhat outdated here and there.
- [How To Use Vassal: Solitaire Mode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmeFdmoK3nM) by [The Name of the Game](https://www.youtube.com/@epicsexycrafttime7475).
- [A Basic Overview of Vassal and What You Can Do With It](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7GRaLcdBZU) by [idjester](https://www.youtube.com/@idjester). A little out-dated.

## Other

- Geeklist on [BoardGameGeek](https://boardgamegeek.com): [How to play games on vassal](https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/71485/how-to-play-games-on-vassal). Some of the videos are outdated, and some are specific to particular games and modules.
- Playlist [Vassal](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLl6iXCWpIxDUtHF55Rgp9X9mN0NuCoyVJ) by [GameAholics](https://www.youtube.com/@gameaholics_games). A little focused on a single game. Ignore advice on installing Java - Vassal now ships with its own Java on Windows and MacOS.
