Use of text help files broken

VASSAL seems to be unable to find text files. I have it setup to give a list of keyboard shortcuts, but when I try to open it inside the module, it gives me this error:

File not found

VASSAL could not find the file ‘jar:file:/c:/Documents and Settings/Rhydon/My Documents/vassal/Zombies!!!/Zombies.vmod!/Keyboard Shortcuts.txt’.

If I had to guess, I’d say the problem was the exclamation mark after the name of the module in the filepath, but I don’t know for sure.

Does this happen when

a) You try and load the file into the module using the editor

or

b) You try and display the file in play mode using the Help → Keyboard Shortcuts menu option?

Both.

Hi,

I Have reproduced this and it is being caused by the exclamation marks in the folder name containing the file you are trying to load.

You can get around this by moving your shortcuts.txt file to a folder name with no ! in the path and load it from there.

I will add a bug report for this problem.

Regards,
B.

You also can’t run the module from a folder with ‘!’ in the name.

Thanks for the workaround, Brent. By the way, I have no problem running the module itself from that same folder the txt file was in.
