Vassal 3.1 User Guide - Draft 4

This latest draft includes many improvements and clarifications from the last draft.

You can download it from http://www.crucible.cc/vassal/userguide.zip

I believe that this is the final draft before publication. Your review and comments are welcomed! Please return comments either by the forum or by PM.

Thanks for your comments so far, and for helping to make the document as good as possible.

I haven’t received any comments on the last draft of the User Guide, so my inclination is to say it’s done and ready for release.

I’d like to publish it both for download from the site, as well as possibly include it in the next installer build (as a PDF).

What do you think?

Apart from that, it would be good to have in the new site wiki also

Hi,

Respect for the work done !!

What to say ?

If you can improve pictures quality for better seing …

Congratulation …

One stupid remark : this is “Sabertooth Games” …

Thus spake “mycenae”:

I think I’m terribly overcommitted right now. :frowning:

  1. Having a version number on the cover of the user’s guide is… confusing.
I would put that in the credits.

  2. What did you use to create this? Can we get the source into the repository?

  3. On the credits page, you have VASSAL italicized for no reason I can see.

  4. I realized just now why the screenshots bother me: They’re not connected
with the text in any way—no captions, no Figure numbers, no in-text
references, and so the reader has to guess what the screenshots are
    illustrating.

Otherwise, I think this ready to face the enemy—er, the users. I’m
interested to see how it’s received.

J.

The guide is in .doc format, and I’ll be happy to move the final source into the repository if you’ll tell me where that is.

-The version number from the cover will be moved into the document itself.

-Before publishing, I’ll add captions to the screen shots to make them clearer.

-Gaet has offered to translate the user guide into French for the benefit of French Vassal users. I plan to give him the final .doc for translation purposes.

Can we publish the guide to both the current and future Vassal sites? And include the PDF in the next installer?

Hi Ed,

My final goal was to translate your document into French when i have contacted you one month ago…

As indicated earlier … i can help you to provide screenshots and captures to illustrate your reference guide

Best Regards from Paris,

Grégory
