Victory/money track counter

Yesterday I had to use 20+ command keys (and around as many traits) to do a simple thing like finding out which side, among 4 possibly in the game, has the most victory points and which one has the fewest (splitting tie-breaks with dice rolls).

Generally speaking some sort of counter (similar to the turn counter) dedicated to the victory track (or money track) with methods to update it (add/subtract XX to the score of side 1), display it and query it (side with most points/money, side with least, sides with more than XYZ etc ) would be nice.

Enhancement request #1878 is already in the system, I have added your comments:

A General purpose tool for tracking Victory points.
Can be configred to suit different games.

Operation:

When launch button clicked, will pop up a floating
window showing current VP situation. Refresh button to
recalculate.

Configuration:

  • Configurable number of sides
  • Each side has a configurable number of VP
    components.
  • Each VP component has a name and a description and
    is one of the following types:
  1. Player Controlled: +/-/Set buttons so players can
    click up the current level of points.

  2. Property Count: Total the values of the specified
    Marker in all counters that match the specified
    Property Filter expression (eg. Total the marker VP
    for all counters that match ‘CurrentMap=Main &&
    Type=Control && Side=Russian’)

That would probably do it. A bit of creativity in
design and using Zones should allow quite a lot of
automated calculation. Any hard bits are taken care of
by a Player Controlled entry.

Don’t expect any of this before VASSAL 4, but it should all be
straightforward then.
