Zoomed sub-map?

I know VASSAL can handle multiple map windows, but I’d like to use them in a way that I’m not sure is possible. In some ASL scenarios, the counter density gets really high in certain areas (say, around the Victory Building), which gets difficult to follow on the screen. One thing that’d be mega-cool is to have a side-map that shows a zoomed-in version of that small Victory Building area so that people could move counters around in a less-cluttered way.

Thing is, I think for usability purposes, unit actions in one map would have to be duplicated in the other map.

Doable?

The overview map is conceptually similar to what you’re asking for, in
that it provides a scaled view of a map. It might be possible to adapt
the code there to do what you want.
