3299 does allow me to add a Place marker now. I havnt gotten any further yet.

A while back I sent some PayPal to VASSAL as a thanks. If I send some more $$, who gets it ? Everyone ?

thanks,

Mad Dog

Well, the money goes straight to me right now, but we can talk about that. I’d say we’ve reached a milestone this year in that I’m now doing less than half the total work. You can make payments directly to developers on SourceForge, so that’s another way to spread the love.

Is there something directly related to VASSAL development that this could go to? Does the project actually need anything? Where is all of this stuff hosted anyway? Presumable someone’s paying bills to the service provider.

I pay the hosting bills out of the PayPal account that’s associated with the SourceForge project. In that sense, contributions to the project go directly towards VASSAL-related expenses.

I’ve still got my fingers crossed that one day a multi-billionaire orbiting the planet in a space-station will donate his fortune to the Vassal project.

If I ever win the lottery I’d be more than happy to fund it with salaries
for Rodney, Joel, Brent et al.

I see it now in my dreams already - VASSAL a LLC company or would it be PLC?

Hell yeah, but would these guys work as hard as they do if they were on a salary!?

I was thinking of sending a little $$$ your way, to distribute as you think is appropriate. If I send another $20, I hoping to avoid cage-matches.

thanks,

Tom

Being paid by the hour ($0/hour) like I am now is surely more motivating.

Thus spake “Michael Kiefte”:

There was a Simpsons episode where Lisa’s class visited the printing
plant of the Springfield Shopper.

Springfield Shopper Woman: Here at the Springfield Shopper we use a
percentage of recycled paper.
Lisa: What percent?
Springfield Shopper Woman: Zero. (Pause) What!? Zero’s a percent.

The way we get paid is something like that.
