Background Map Printing, etc.

I’m new to Vassal and I am wondering if there is a way to copy the map file, so that I can print it and use it for strategy.

Is there a way to copy the background file out of VASSAL?

Is there a way to print inside the program?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thus spake “histscot”:

The easiest thing to do would be to extract the map image from the module
using whatever program you use for working with ZIP archives, and then to
print it using your favorite image editor.

Actually, I think the easiest thing to do would be to use the camera
tool to take a snapshot of the map in Vassal and print that. ;)

Hmmm. I now have had time to check and see that this will only work
if the module has the “Image Capture Tool” added to the mapboard. I
suppose that you could always edit the module to add this tool if it
isn’t present already.

  • You would do this by editing the module, selecting the “Map Board”
section, right-clicking and selecting “Add Image Capture Tool”.

  • That should give you a toolbar icon with a camera on it that will
save the mapboard image in a filename of your choice.

I think it would be easier to do that than to go mucking about in the
internal representation of the module storage.
