Added Death in the Trenches.
Ben,
Quick question, on the Case Blue module, the maps are numbered 1,2,3… this does not tie with the map naming of the game that is A,B,C… .
Are the maps corresponding with the ones in the game? That is, map 1 in the module is map A in the game and so on?
Also , you refer as possible to play the module reasonably with 512mb ram, how is that possible? Is any tweak of VASSAL required? Should any specific options be selected?
This is due to a Vassal limitation; It means you may need to use a larger map area than a scenario requires. Doesn’t affect play at all though.
No, not at all. The numbering is only used to construct the map size you need for a scenario.
You need to use the Beta version of Vassal available here in the forum; then in Preferences set Java memory to 512Mb. Note that you still need a 1Gb RAM PC to do this as Windows requires additional memory to run.
Using your great AFS mod, just wanted to let you know that the Low Ammo counter does not have a flip side which causes an error. It should be a No Ammo side.
Thanks,
Keith
Added This Hallowed Ground (The Gamers).
I have no problem loading your Terrible Sound or AFS or GMT’s Twilight in the East, but THG does not load at all.
I have my heap set at 512 max and memory mapped and there is 2GB RAM on my PC.
for beta 7 all I get is out of memory dialog from VASSAL.
Keith
Try 1024Mb Keith.
I did, nothing. one thing that is odd. The Out of Memory error comes up right away, very quickly.
I tried again with Memory mapping turned off and it worked, but I cannot load it with the Start New Game that loads the map right away. I have to choose Load a Saved Game then cancel then from File - > start new game.
But thanks it is working,
Keith
(Joel had suggested the memory mapping, guess you just have to experiment.)
I set my max heap memory at 1040 and I still get the Out of Memory notice.
Don’t use 1040 Jon, try 1024 instead.
I had tried 1024 earlier. Since the Task Manager had Java a 1.38+ MB I thought I’d try 1040. Does one change the Preferences in the main Vassal File or the Module File section?
Thus spake “jonfel”:
THG definitely does not need that much memory. You probably have your
max heap set too high for your machine. Try reducing your max heap to 768MB
and turning on the “Prefer memory-mapped images” option.

With both 768 and 1024 I still get the Vassal Out of Memory screens for THG.
TTS seems to work OK except that I get a just a blue screen for the Combat Chart.
Thus spake “jonfel”:
Did you turn on “Prefer memory-mapped images”?

yes, I turned on memory-mapped images.
Thus spake “jonfel”:
Looking back at this thread, I see that you never said how much RAM
your computer has. Without knowing that, we we might be offering you
advice which makes no sense for your machine.

It has 2.43 GB of RAM
Thus spake “jonfel”:
That is a peculiar amount of RAM to have.
For reference, I have no problem running THG with the max heap set to
512MB with memory-mapped images turned on.
One more thing to remember is that changes to the max heap size and to
whether memory-mapped images are used will not take affect until after
you restart VASSAL.

Trying to start a VASSAL game of Bitter End, Ben, and my partner - playing German - reported this:
Several german units are missing entirely from the Vassal Mod.
Missing:
FHH Supply Unit (1-1-6)
662 (2-2-7)
Vere (2-2-6) (part of the buda garrison, easy to sub with the KG1 armored unit.)
3-3 Corps (4-4-6)
Any ideas for replacement?
I see this is a rather old mod - 09/2007 - but I’m hoping you still have your templates laying around somewhere and can quickly toss these counters into the mod…
Or give us a new one!
