(Beta 5) bug : uncaught exception at module start

the betas seem not working at all for me
each & every module I tried, I have the same “uncaught exception error”, that I already reported

very frustrating so to speak :imp:

Am I the only one who’s facing that problem?

Thus spake “Matt57”:

What exception? Reported where?

reported where? by sending a mail when i was prompted to :unamused:

Thus spake “Matt57”:

Did you include your email address when you sumitted the bug report? If
not, please do that the next time this bug occurs.

I can’t see from that screenshot what the exception was, so I don’t
have enough information right now to determine which bug report is
yours.

Gee Matt, you’ve really got me jumping out of my skin to help you…

Clearly no-one else is experiencing your problem and rude requests, even with possible sarcastic/ironic content don’t tend to go accross well with tired, overworked developers.

Your initial bug report appears to have been overlooked. Perhaps you did not include your email address so that it could be followed up? We have recieved and dealt with many hundreds of bug reports over the past few weeks as the new bug reporting system has bedded down. Many of them duplicates, many of them impossible to follow up on because of lack of information. It is not inconceiveable that your bug report was overlooked.

Could you please generated the error again using beta5 Vassal and resubmit a bug report and I’m sure someone will get a round tuit.

Many times I’ve attempted in vain the quest of finding a round tuit, but nobody ever seems to know where to find one

Someone gave me a photocopy of one once, but I lost it :frowning:

I don’t think my supplying one will help development appreciably though.

Cheers,

I resent the message with my email adress

Hi Matt,

Thanks for sending that in.

The problem is that your preferences file has been corrupted. This particular bug has already been fixed, could you please try the 4470 build available from nomic.net/~uckelman/tmp/vassal/

When you get started, check your Chat Window color preferences and reset them.

Regards,
B.

Hi Matt,

Before running the new version of Vassal, could you please locate and email me a copy of your current ‘Preferences’ file to b.easton at exemail.com.au? It will be in a folder called VASSAL in your ‘home directory’. On a windoes system, this would normally be

C:\Document and Settings<your user name>

C:\Users<your user name>

Thanks,
Brent
