CC:E and Bore Sighting

Playing a CC:E scenario, I encountered this situation:

#1: I played a Fire Order as the Allied side (the defender)
#2: I activated Sgt. Buehler
#3: I used Sgt. Buehler to activate the machine gun and the weapon crew in the same hex
#4: I selected K3 as my target
#5: I played Bore Sighting as an Action, since I was firing with the .50 cal with its printed FP of 9
#6: I got an error message saying that I can’t play the Bore Sighting because I have “No activated defending weapon with a FP>5.”

Any observations or suggestions as to why this happened or what I’m doing wrong?

Activating a unit does not constitute firing the unit. As per the card “…when FIRING any weapon…”
The module is just following the rules per the cards and is looking for a weapon that has been marked as fired.

Ok, didn’t know you could mark units as main attack and support, and others as Defend, and have their values translated into the respective boxes. Really a nice implementation. Trying to work my way through more solitaire play to figure out the ins and outs. Thanks for the help again, Tim.

Ok, another question. When making a defend or recover check, is there any way to automatically add in the cover of the terrain? Or is it best to dial it in with the +/- next to the respective box?

Yep, you have to use the +/- boxes at the moment. Terrain isn’t fully developed enough in vassal to automate and attach the values at this time. This is something that will hopefully get some love at a future time down the road
