I’ve added a link to this topic to the issue in the bug tracker.
FYI, I think there’s a very strong chance that it’s a bug in the underlying Java Swing UI, not a bug in VASSAL, in which case the odds of it getting fixed are very slim.
Version 4 of VASSAL will be moving away from Java, so the bug should be gone once it is released (no, there’s no ETA for version 4 yet, sorry).
I made the log of the issue that @uckelman referred to. It’s taken me awhile to find time to investigate in enough detail but I think I’ve got a fix. It works, at least for the issue as I see it.
I’d appreciate if you could do a test when you get a moment.
