I’d like to start posting a development plan every few weeks to keep everyone appraised of what’s being worked on and what’s coming. This is the first such.
Module library
All of the module library conversion work I had on my list was compete as of last weekend. If there’s anything you know of which hasn’t been completed, you should assume we don’t know about it and tell us.
To be completed are the open issues in GitHub for the game library service and game library frontend, which you can see here:
At the time of writing this, there are no open issues for the GLS, but quiet a few for the GLF.
Server upgrade
On Friday, I intend to do the server upgrade, which our previous use of MediaWiki for the module library had been blocking. This means that at some point during the day, everything—forum, library, game server—will be down for an unpredictable, but hopefully short, amount of time.
Upgrading the server unblocks GLF #16 and GLF #17, which I am to tackle after the upgrade.
I expect the sever upgrade followed by GLF #16 and 17 will occupy me for the next few days.
Near-term forecast
Once the server upgrade and GLF #16 and 17 are done, I’ll move on to other open GLS and GLF issues. Following that, I aim to move on to working on V4 tech demos. Sometime during September or October we will release Vassal 3.7.17.
If there is some issue you would like addressed sooner, or you would like to bring V4 work forward, please consider volunteering to work on some of the game library issues linked above. Most of them are underdescribed at the moment, so the first step would be asking for a better description.
