I’m new in Vassal, thanks to the devs for the job !
I’m surprised that there is nothing like a dynamic message panel to chat with other players, like almost every game site. It makes things so much more lively ! And it would be easier to find opponents too ! Don’t you think ? I mean, the actual message interface allows communication, but not quite ideal…

That exists already. That’s what the Main Room for each game is for.
