Exporting Couters

Is it possible to export the counter images from within a VASSAL module?

VASSAL modules are merely renamed ZIP archives. Open the file with any archiving software of choice and all the images are in the ZIP archive’s folder named images.

Hi Joel,
What file and where can I find it.
Stupid here…

Any module you download from our site will be saved on your computer as a file named something.vmod.

something.vmod will be a Zip archive. You can open it with any tool that handled Zip archives. On windows, you can rename it to something.zip and double-click on it to open it with the in-built Windows Zip archive handler.

Thanks Brent,
Got it figured out. :+1:
Right click, open properties, change file extension name from vmod to .zip.
I’m gonna have fun with this one!

I have another question.
Would the reverse also work?
By that I mean, zip a file and then insert it into a module.

A module is a Zip archive, so you can’t ‘Zip a file and then insert it’ as that would be putting a Zip file inside a Zip file and Vassal will not recognize that.

I think what you mean is can you use a Zip utility to copy more files into the module directly, without having to go through Vassal. Yes, you can. You just have to be careful that you are putting them in the right place.
