Feature freeze for v3.1

It’s time to decide when to shut the door on features for v3.1 so that we can start working on stability.

What new features do we have so far? I know we have:

  • RFE 1633152: Simplify adjusting Maximum Memory requirements
  • RFE 1566177: Implement JAI tiled images to reduce memory usage
  • RFE 1565958: Zooming to larger than 100%
  • Launch from VASSAL.exe on Windows.
  • Improve splash-screen/welcome-wizard

What else? Let’s collect a list of all features to be put in the release and set Feb 8 as a deadline for getting new features merged into the trunk. If there’s anything you’re working on that you don’t think will be ready by then, we should put it off until v3.2.

  • Generation and storage of GamePiece ID’s (gpid’s). New updater scheduled for 3.2.

I’d actually like to see the ADC2 importer in there as it is 80%
complete. The rest is just stability issues.

Done:

  • Bug 1866161: Exception when deleting initial elements from tabs

  • Bug 1860941: Do not prompt to start new logfile when already recording

  • Bug 1716080: Piece traits editor allows removal of BasicPiece trait

  • Bug xxxxxxx: Zooming now correctly maintains view center.

  • RFE 1633152: Simplify adjusting Maximum Memory requirements

  • RFE 1566177: Implement JAI tiled images to reduce memory usage

  • RFE 1565958: Zooming to larger than 100%

  • Upgraded SVG library from Batik 1.6 to Batik 1.7

  • Launch from VASSAL.exe on Windows.

Still waiting:

  • something from r2785 (what? need a description)
  • Bug 1716071: Drag ghosts for multiple selections (done?)
  • Improve splash-screen/welcome-wizard (not done yet)
  • Mac bundle. (tonight?)

There are a half-dozen other things I’m going to fish out this evening
that should go in the “done” list (e.g., plugin support).

I just wanted to have a clean list of things to test/document for 3.1. That other topic was getting long and miscellaneous.

Okay, its feature-freeze time!

I’m not sure where the splash-screen releases were built from, but let’s get it into the trunk and start making incremental releases from there.
