Has the ability to have project specific dialogs attached to each project page ever been a consideration?

With the new library, this seems a good time to ask something that I’ve wondered for some time about the project pages.

Would it be possible for dialog timelines to be placed on each project page. This would make it easier for project owners to track discussions related specifically to their projects. The dialogs could be mirrored in the main forum still for all to see, but it would provide a common location for project specific content to live.

Thoughts?

I’m not sure what you mean by “dialog timelines”. Would you elaborate on that?

Yeah, sorry After I sent that, I realized it was probably confusing. I’m just talking about the ability for people to comment directly onto the project pages.

I realize this would be somewhat of a departure from the way the forum has handled topics, but it would be a great way IMHO for users of the modules to express directly on the project page. Much like the way that BoardGame Geek has forum areas relevant to each game.

This is a basic concept of how I think it could look. (This is all made up of course).

Hope this does a better job of explaining what I was talking about.

Kind of a chat, but not synchronous.

Every time I’ve encountered comment facilities on a page that is supposed to archival in some sense— reference documentation, release pages, etc.—it either doesn’t get used or it overwhelms the content on the page which is supposed to have long-term value with a stream of ephemera that ends up being confusing for visitors. I’m not in favor of devoting page space to this, sorry.

Consider also that as a project owner, you’d end up potentially with stuff on your project page you didn’t put there, and someone may potentially need to moderate it.

What about a link to a forum thread where the module is discussed?

No problem. It would be nice, but I get that it would come with its own set of issues. I just wanted to throw it out there to see if there was any interest from other project owners.
