Vassal installation for Target for Today. Please help

I have a Microsoft surface running Windows 10. When I try to load the sorftware is asks what application do you want to use? I don’t have anything that will open .vd files. That’s my problem
What’s a .vd file, and where’d you get it from? Do you by chance mean a .vmod file–that is, a game module you’ve downloaded from here?
You won’t be able to do anything with it unless you first install the VASSAL application. Have you tried doing that? Go to the main page and click the big blue button, which likely says “Get Vassal for Windows”.
