How can I play on-line Advanced Squad Leader?

Hello forum,

I hope everyone is having a good summer.

Thanks for a really great tool!

I have downloaded the latest version of VASSAL (I think it’s 3.3.2).

I would like to play Advanced Squad Leader. I read somewhere that I have to use VASL.

But the VASL website told me that I have to use VASSAL 3.2.17

However, when I attempt to download VASSAL 3.2.17, I get the following error message:

“JAVA download failed/ TIMEOUT 30000”

What can I do?

I was very much looking forward to playing Advanced Squad Leader again!

Install Java 8 yourself before trying to install VASSAL 3.2.17.

(Or, wait for the next version of VASL, which will work with VASSAL 3.3.)

Righteous! I got it!

Now how do I find a game?

I have played Advanced Squad Leader in person many times.

But how do I find an opponent and play on VASL?

Is there a ladder, etc?
