in FAQ I found: “check the Log me in automatically box when you login”, and “If you do not see this checkbox, it means the board administrator has disabled this feature”.
since I’m failing to see the box, I imagine the ‘board admin.’ has disabled it?
if that is indeed so, is there any way to stay logged in? (without having to become ‘active’)
if no, when/after how long is the log-off trigger?

Are you talking about being logged out of the forum? The cookies for
the forum have their expiration a year after they’re sent, so your
browser shouldn’t be showing you as logged out right after you’ve
logged in. The overall site cookies should also last a year.
hm… again, thanks for responding, but apparently my original question is not a simple & straightforward one (as I had imagined) and finding the answer now starts looking like more trouble than it’s worth (to me), so I’ll just let it go at this point.
