Invisible Maps

Acer PC
Intel Pentium J9200 @ 2.41GHz
4 GB RAM
64 Bit OS
Windows 10
Intel Graphics
Vassal v. 3.2.15
Java 1.6.0_45

I’m encountering an issue with three modules, where when I open a new game on each, the map does not appear. The game pieces and charts show up fine, but no map appears at all. Zooming in and out makes no difference, nor does the mini-map feature work. This happens on two modules I downloaded from Decision Games: Red Tide West (v.3.0) and War Between the States (v.1.0), as well as Triumph and Tragedy (35.2), which I downloaded from this site. This bug occurs when I try to play a local game; I haven’t tried any of these as an online game. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Is the divider between the chat pane and the map dragged all the way
to the bottom of the window?

Hi J, that’s exactly what the problem was. I feel like a moron! Thanks for helping a VASSAL newbie

You might also try this.

Start your module, open File → Preferences and, under the General tab, you’ll see an option to “Use combined application window”. Uncheck this. Close and reopen the module. The map should then open as an independent window.

No need to feel like a moron. This is a sufficiently common problem
that I got it in one guess.

Thanks again, J. I truly appreciate the help, this issue has been driving me batty! Best wishes.

I’ve been having the same “problem” after downloading VASSAL recently. Luckily, this thread was here when I came looking for a solution.
