LOS Snap to Grid

It seems like the map grid “snap to defined point” option must be selected for the LOS thread to be able to snap to grid. I’d like to be able to have the LOS thread snap to grid with the map grid “snap to defined point” option deselected. This would allow the LOS to snap to grid while still allowing game pieces to be placed freely on the grid. I still want the pieces to stack on each other so I can’t give the pieces the “does not stack” trait.

Here’s the current selections in my module. The LOS thread does not snap to a defined point even though I’ve selected “force start of thread to snap to grid”. Either I’m doing something wrong or if not, I’m requesting this as a feature enhancement. Thanks for your help.

I suspect that perhaps nobody envisioned having LOS snap to grid
when units don’t snap to the grid. I must admit that it seems a
little bit odd to allow units to be placed arbitrarily but to want
the LOS to be bound to the grid.

Is that because you want to allow units that are conceptually at the
grid point to be spread out on the grid to make them easier to see
or manipulate?

Hi Tom,

The map squares are big enough to contain several counters within each. So you’re correct in your assessment, I do want to be able to place several counters in each square without being constrained by snapping to the grid. And it sure is easier to draw a LOS when it snaps to grid than when it doesn’t.
