I’m using a mac running OSX and I just downloaded a new module, however, when i tried opening it nothing in the file would work for opening. I think the problem is that where it was supposed to download as a file that I could click on as the module, but my mac downloaded it as a folder so I can access everything inside it and everything that makes up the module, but not the file in totality for the program.
What should I do? Am I doing something wrong? Did the above make any sense?
You need to take the folder and turn it back into a zip file.
The way to do that depends ever so slightly on your OS version, but it
is essentially the same.
o Right-Click (Control-Click) on the folder to get the contextual
menu to pop up.
o Select “compress FOLDERNAME” (Leopard 10.5)
“make archive” (Tiger 10.4) or something similar.
[I don’t have Tiger available at
the moment
to check on the exact wording.]
Alternately:
o Select the folder in Finder
o Select the Menu item File > compress FOLDERNAME (Leopard) or
make archive (Tiger)
That will give you back the .zip file.
I would then change the extension to .vmod, which will bring up a
confirmation dialog. You need to select the non-default option to
change the extension.
