I recently upgraded from Mac OS12 to 26.5.1 (Tahoe). Today when I tried to download a module for the first time using Tahoe the module downloaded as a folder. I did not have this problem previously. A previous topic indicated that this was a problem with Safari unzipping the file, but did not indicate a solution. Another post I found had instructions for rezipping the file. Surely there must be some way to stop Safari from unzipping the file? Thanks.
Guide to Safari’s General Settings
You want to alter the Open “safe” files after downloading setting. I’m not on my Mac at present so I can’t offer a screenshot. I’m pretty sure it’s a tickbox preference and it’ll almost certainly be ticked for you, so untick it.
Thanks for your response! I found the dialog box and changed the setting. It worked… except that I had to change the file extension from .zip to .vmod. Thanks again!
Just saw this and had the same issue…you are on it…just change to vmod and it has been working well.
@JoelCFC25 perhaps you could make a Documentation post about this - say “Problem with downloading modules, saves, and log” - and add that to the Troubleshooting Common Problems section in the Documentation Index? The problem seems to pop-up often enough that it would warrant some documentation. Remember to make it a “Wiki-post”, so that it can be edited, should the need arise.
@garymr please mark this as “Solved” by selecting the post that solved the issue for you. That helps others find the solution to their problems. Only you as the OP can do that.
Yours,
