Why do I try to message or reply to messages to other users and my messages get stuck in Outbox?
This last message has been in Outbox for like 10 days.

No messages are “stuck”. The way the forum software works—which I
agree is unobvious—is that messages remain in your Outbox until
the recipient views them, at which point they move to Sent.

I’m used to the world of Exchange and Outlook where sitting in the outbox means the message is stuck.
