A new version of a module for Avalon Hill Gunslinger is now available (file name is 1.9.4DC, version is 1.9.4). Minor changes and usability improvements to the 1.9.3DC module.
Hello,
I am working on making some changes to the module. A bit of rearranging to make the map windows a little more usable, and, more importantly, getting some things tied together like character names and getting stats automatically set when a character is selected.
Is anyone still actively working on this module? If so, it would make some sense to make sure I don’t make changes to things you care about, or that you can get my changes into your versions, or something. I’d rather not have a version fork!
Thanks in advance!
Yes, my group is actively testing a new version. Should be posted within 2 weeks.
Dave
Okay, cool.
I’m still experimenting, really at the moment. One of the things I’m playing with is to split out the legend sheets so that there’s one map for each sheet; as the legend sheet map currently is, it’s quite large, and can’t be resized (at least, not on my system). Then I’m replacing the unitary legend sheet with a somewhat smaller sheet which holds the cards actually being played.
I’m also playing with some things to make setup a lot easier; particularly, automatically setting the characteristics, inventory, and bonus cards once a character is chosen. I’m currently enquiring about attachments to try to make that better.
At any rate, I look forward to your new version.
Best,
Chris Conway
There is a 2.0 version posted on the module page, which I uploaded in May (I think). You should be able to make the Legend Sheet larger or small with the magnifying glass buttons, and then resize the window manually; is this not working for you?
I’ve gotten it, and we’ll use it for our next game.
No, when I change the magnification, resizing the window is still disabled. I looked all through the module and couldn’t see any trait that would fix the window size; it may be something about the initial window size, vassal, and my system interacting to produce the issue. If you don’t see it, then don’t worry about it.
We also have some different preferences as to actual user command keystrokes-- would you be open to adding them as synonyms? For instance, on any of the stats, particularly delay and stamina, we prefer using arrow keys to the ctl-shift-plus and ctl-shift-minus commands. Just easier for us to remember.
Also, would you be interested in adding the initialization stuff I’ve been working on? The new version of the module gives me the opportunity to do it a lot more cleanly, without all the cruft from my figuring out how to do it… Basically, it loads the legend sheet information (skill values, stamina), bonus cards, and starting inventory (from the character list in the rules) when you select the character. Not useful during the game, but it can make setting up a scenario a lot faster.
Thanks for the update!
Best regards,
Chris
