Hi Jobu, I’ve set up, established a game room called Rog vs Jobu and have the file saved as a .vsav.
I’ve watched the Ardwulf Vassal tutorial on YouTube and it shows how to save games as .vlog. Matching the current version of Vassal against the tutorial, the best I seem to be able to do is to load Turn 1 Israeli setup as a .vsav file. Will that work?

There’s two kinds of saved files in Vassal, and they work differently. A vsav file, or saved game file, saves the game with all the pieces in their current location but does not show any of the moves or actions the player took during his turn. For your Israeli setup that’s fine, I don’t need to see you placing each unit, I can just look at them after you finish setting up and then you select “Save game” and save a vsav file.
The other kind of file that we will be using each turn is called a logfile. It saves all the moves and actions a player takes, and after you save it and send it to me I can load it and “watch” your turn. It works differently from a vsav file. You start a logfile at the beginning of your turn by going to the menu and under “File” you select “Begin logfile.” You name it, including a number. For example, “001_Israeli_Turn_1” might be the name of your Turn 1 file. Then you make all the moves you want to make. And when you’re done, you go to “File” and select “End logfile.” It’s very simple once you’ve done it a couple times, like most things in life LOL.
And finally, we do not need to establish a room in Vassal unless we’re going to get online at the same time and play live. That’s the only reason you would need the room “Rog vs Jobu.” Not necessary when playing by mail.
