Does anyone have Bill Thompson’s email addy? I was the original module creator for the 3R/A3R module and would love to play a round. The rules file is still password protected and I recall working with Bill to unlock the PDF. Any help would be very nice.
You mean A3R_Rules.zip available at Advanced Third Reich? I think the password is what some would respond when asked if they are here - in a sort of militaristic fashion - starts with a p ends with a t.
Thanks! Good hint! Now looking for partners. I actually built the original vassal 3R/A3R modules and all the artwork and it appears to have stood the test of time. There is a ‘custom code’ violation running 3.7 - I’ll take a look at this as time permits.
Regarding the 3R mod, it appears the map I spent many hours working on was replaced by a board scan… why would someone do such a thing? If anyone can find an older (original) 3R mod, I would truly be grateful.
Or, did you do Rise and Decline of the Third Reich? Then, perhaps you should try contact Bill Thomson (@wga ) - either through here or via bill@wargameacadamy.org - to see if you can be added as an owner to the module project page. I’m not sure you will have any success, and if you fail with reasonable effort, you may be able to convince @uckelman to add you.
In a fair bit of the modules made by @wga, there are custom classes. Most of these have however been superseeded Vassal proper components. For example, the “look-at” element is now standard in Vassal.
In Advanced Third Reich a custom component of Oblique hex numbering is used. The source code of that isn’t directly available, but you may be able to use one I made - see here. See also Creating Custom Classes.
Which of the various Third Reich modules are you talking about:
Perhaps one or more of these, or older version of the module, contain your graphics.
I think Bill wanted to limit access to those rules - perhaps out of concerns around copyright infringement. But you will have to get hold of Bill to know for sure.
