PBeM hex movement etiquette?

I’m curious about moving pieces in any standard turn based hex type military board game.

Is it proper to move your pieces one hex at a time or should you just leap from the starting hex to the final hex?

Why do I ask? I can see both a pro and a con to doing this. First the benefit… If the game has movement modifiers based on terrain features I might want to see where the piece has moved. Makes sense I suppose.
On the other hand, and depending on the numbers of pieces on the game board it may take some time to watch umpteen pieces move one at a time.

I also suppose that the answer to this question may depend on what game is being played. Any how, any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

I play plenty of people that do not do this, but I really prefer one hex at a time for all my games.
