I love Vassal but i dont like exchange vlog files that much. Is it possible to setup an online server and play a game there? I make a move, then my oponent go there and make his and so on. I have an pc not being used, is it possible to do something like this? This question even make sense? Im not a professional programmer but not a complete ignorant either
The V3 game server is purely a relay. It doesn’t hold any game state. What you’re proposing could work if you had a client that never disconnected from the game server, but then you’d also need to do something to ensure that client saved periodically.
Online storage of game state will be possible with V4.
It’s not exactly what you want but you can almost get there with DropBox if everyone sets up automatic background synching. Everyone still needs to step through the .vlog files but at least they’re just there waiting for you!
