I am currently involved in play testing the game “Washingtons War”. There is a VASSAL module for it and the version number is .971
I have VASSAL and the version I am using is version 3.017
So far everything has been going smoothly except when I first load the module I get a warning message that doesn’t make any sense. In essence it asks me to ‘upgrade to a newer version of VASSAL’ when the version it is using is already old. In other words I already have installed a newer version. The exact message wording is:
This module was created using version 3.1.0 beta4 of the VASSAL engine. You are using 3.0.17. It’s recommended you upgrade to the latest version of the VASSAL engine.
I’m sending this now because I seem to have lost all of my data for the game I was playing.
In some versions of VASSAL when I start it up, it immediately goes to some screen where I can pick what module I want to open. This latest version that I downloaded does that.
The version that I downloaded before started up with a colorful VASSAL screen and had several buttons to choose from etc…
Why the two different types of start ups?? Which start up should be occurring?
I’m brand new to this VASSAL system and think it is awesome. Keep up the good work guys. This is terrific.
