Sometimes when pulling a chit or card out of a tray, the program will freeze. The chit or card becomes transparent and I can’t get it to do anything at all. I have to shut it down and restart. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this?
What is your operating system and what version of VASSAL are you using?
Try this. The next time it happens, switch your focus to a different app. For example, open up a folder window. Then switch back to vassal.
Windows 10. Latest VASSAL 3.7.16
Tried it. I didn’t work. Thanks anyway.
Just to ensure you understand my comment. I used to have your problem in my win pc years ago, but eventually it went away. I don’t know why. I thought it might be an os vs java problem. My goal was to have the os re-render the problem window from scratch. I’d do it by hiding and revealing it either as I described or by minimizing it and restoring. It worked for me back then.
Well, when it locks up, I can’t do anything on the VASSAL mod. I can’t minimize it or close it. It just freezes the screen.
Look for the “Disable DirectX D3D Pipeline” in the preferences. Tick that and restart Vassal. Does the problem still occur?
Yes. Same problem. I’ve tried it enabled and disabled.
Are your drivers current? This sounds like a graphics driver problem.
